Jo must be manifesting a guy who owns a boat because for date #2 we had Keegan the avid Sailor joining us. 10 points for great chat, Viv gave the questions to Jo in advance this time so she had time to prepare (lol). Wait till you hear what she wants to experience over the next year with someone....

Ready to join the Mastination? Let's get into it.

Jo (00:31.943)

And welcome back to the girls get off podcast and today we have our second episode of date my mate the segment where we've asked you guys to nominate people you think would be a great match for Joe and Today on the show we have Keegan joining us nominated by his friend Lee welcome Keegan Thanks for having me What's in it for you Keegan I know what's in it for Lee, but what's in it for you? What? Well, I'm not too sure to be honest with you

Lee told me I had to do it, otherwise I wouldn't be good friends. Be like Lee. I would have been bargaining a little bit more if I was you. So Keegan, where do you live? Brighton-Lysand, Sydney. Do know where that is Viv? Viv's in Sydney. I'm also in Sydney. Oh, you don't know where it is? Okay. Maybe, maybe. Why am I dating? I'm just on the south side of the airport. So, of the old airport, not the new one. Oh, okay. Yeah, so on Botany Bay, so.

I take my dog for a walk along the waterfront and I sail a fair bit out on the Botany Bay. So we've heard. I think one of the messages from Lee was, sales too much. I'm a single guy, so I like to occupy my time. don't like to be still and probably catching up for many years where I still did sail a fair bit, but not as much as obviously I wanted to.

Yeah, and do your race? Yes. it like full competitive? Yep, just finished the 18 foot skiff world championships on Sunday in Sydney Harbour. We sailed against four teams from New Zealand, a lot of teams from Australia and around Australia.

That'd be silly. No, not in 18s. No, came, the Kiwis came fourth and fifth, I think. No, they did well. How did you do? Second. So, yeah, we had a chance to win it on the last day, a remote chance, and we were in, and theoretically our points were in front, but unfortunately, fortunate for the other team. They were just too good and came back through the fleet and yeah, won the, Yandu won the championships overall.

Jo (02:48.785)

Nice. Is this like something you travel for? I do. I'm just about to pack my boat into a shipping container with a couple of other boats and they're getting sent to Italy. And... I'll stop. Yeah, we'll be sailing on Lake Garda in late June and then I'll fly to Los Angeles and I'm doing the Transpac race on a 100 footer from Los Angeles to Hawaii. So that's why you can see why I sail too much, is because...

Yeah, look at that. One of my questions was going to be, would you ever consider buying a boat in Greece and like sailing around for a couple of years, like sailing, you know, Italy and everywhere like that. So is that a yes or a no? is it just competitive sailing? It's a maybe. Just competitive sailing. Yeah, do. like the relaxing. I'd get so bored. I'll be trying to

trim sails to make the boat go faster. I think after time I would wind down a little bit. Oh, that's so funny. Yeah, no, my holidays. You're just in your element at the moment. Yeah, usually my holidays in the past have been either go snowboarding or something totally away from sailing. Interesting, very cool. Yeah. And you mentioned you've got a dog, what's a home life look for you? Just the one pet? Just the one pet at the moment. This is the

Since September, it's the first time in my life that I've been on my own. So it's just me Ah, so newly single? No, no, no. I've been single for ages, but my son lived with me for ages and now he's moved out. He's moved out west for work and now, since first time. Bachelor. Very different. Nice. Loving it. I didn't at first, but yeah, now it's good. Yeah, so just me and the dog.

Nice, what type of dog? German Shepherd. Cool. Yeah, big dog. It drags me around the waterfront of Brighton and parts the sea when we walk through Brighton on a busy Saturday or Sunday. You should see people scurry. Oh my gosh, nice. And how many kids? I've got three kids, all adults, 28, 20 and 19, all to the same lady.

Jo (05:16.978)

And I'm also a grandfather now. So I've got a one year old grandson. my gosh. How old are you? You look younger than you are. Obviously. I like to say I'm 48. Just about to turn 49, but 48 at the moment. Ah, started young. Love it. Very young. Wow. That is really young to be starting to have kids. Wow. Well, I think it was easier when I had my first daughter when I was 22 to be accepting of it than what I was accepting that I was going to be a grandfather.

you when she rang me I was like no I'm too young she goes well you didn't really have a choice my gosh yeah yeah no I've definitely had the chats with my nearly 18 year old son because I do not fancy being a grandparent anytime soon it's it's it sneaks up on you that's for sure I've had that I've had that chat with my son and I don't know if you listened

Well at 28 though, is it the 28 year old that's had a kid? Yes, yeah, yeah. I feel like that's like I was 22. So yeah, I feel like 28 lots of people have. Yeah, that's why I had to go. I had to go. Yeah. When I was talking to Jordan, I said, okay, that's all right. I said, you're at that age. Of course, of course. I'm glad it's this long. Yeah, it's kind of your fault that you're so young.

It's good, we still socialise and I like to think that I'll be a good grandfather. I thought I was a good father because I was young and could keep up. Whereas I know people that have had kids in their late 40s, 50s and they look so tired and slow. Yeah, it doesn't look very appealing. It does not look very appealing. Oh, nice. Nice. And it's good. Good.

Keegan, what's something that never fails to make you laugh? that's a good question. Wait, you've been sent these questions, haven't you? Yeah, I don't know if I actually got that one. I don't think I saw that one. I like to have a bit of a stir. Even in a relationship or just with my mates or whatever, we're always stirring each other. I'm usually the brunt of it.

Jo (07:44.498)

I just like to have a good time generally. Go to a comedy club or something like that is a newfound thing that I've found in the last couple of years. So I like to have a bit of a laugh there. Nice. Good bit of banter. Love it. What about you, Joe? I read that question and I'm like, honestly, I'm just still so immature, aren't I? Like, just like anything immature makes me laugh. Yeah, I'm never going to grow up.

So we'll go with that one. should put the question. about, okay, Joe, what's a recent moment when you felt genuinely happy? Who wrote these questions? Chat. GPT. Well, we did, it was a team effort. Okay. I don't know. I, I'm not, not genuinely happy. I read this one and I'm like, who fakes being happy? I'm not a happy faker. So like right now.

I'm genuinely happy, you know? I don't know. You just, yeah, if I'm not happy, I'm not happy. Izzy, how about you? Me, in life, I'm happy when I'm occupied doing something, especially when I'm on the water out sailing. It doesn't matter what's happening, even if it's good or bad, I'm usually pretty happy. I'm with my friends, know, having a good time. Unless you're going slow. No.

Sometimes the slow times are the best times. know, there's hardly any wind or whatever and you just talk crap out on the water. Yeah. You know, it's very, it's very social and it's a very good way to, you know, bounce ideas or if you got like, cause very tight knit community in sailing and then it's even tighter again in your own crew. And you know, if you're having trouble with anything, you have a chat with them and you're normally perped up.

by the end of the race and the end of the time and no more troubles. Nice. It's like boat therapy. Boat therapy over the last, you know, five to 10 years, that's for sure. And Keegan, what's something that always makes you, it's something small that always makes you instantly attracted to someone. To me, it's usually their smile and the way that they look at you, especially the way they look at you.

Jo (10:08.53)

You know, if they, can just tell sometimes that something's not going to happen because, know, there's, you know, not to say they're cold or whatever, they're still friendly or whatever, but other times, you know, you can see that they're the knees weaken or something like that. And then, and yeah, that's, that's a big attraction for me. like that. Nice. I think I'm a, I think I'm a sucker for a guy with an animal or a

like holding a baby or an animal. I'm just done. So they gotta have accessories. Is that what you're saying? No, it's just like, you know that instant attraction. I feel like a guy could look like anything, but it's just like, you know, like seeing, seeing like a bit of a bond with, I don't know. But wouldn't if they have it, wouldn't if they have a baby, that means they probably already got a partner. They might be holding their grandchild. Grand kid. There you go.

Yeah, nice save, Joe. I how that went. I was wondering how she's gonna dig herself out of that one. Well, I did pretty well then. I'm somebody that will steal babies. My best friend's a midwife and I literally get her to message her postnatal checkups. I I bring a friend along so I can go along and hold babies and they're random babies.

Like, yeah, I would never have another baby, but you know, like you can hold other people's babies. maybe you missed your forte in life. You should have been a midwife or a nurse or something like that. yeah, no, I'd pass out with the like coming out stuff. really? Yeah, yeah, no. Yeah, I was a dental assistant at one stage and I was in like a surgery.

thing and I woke up on the bed next to the patient. It's just like not my not my cup of tea. No, I get it. At first birth, I nearly passed out. I was 20. I have put a disclaimer on it. my god, this is all getting overwhelming. It was about one o'clock in the morning and better sit down. That's a lot. Nice. What do you do for work? I mean business finance and lending company.

Jo (12:33.99)

Sweet. Girls get off will be in touch. cool. Is that like, I just got in my head like boring accountant, like red flags, you know, you may want to expand and make yourself better. My God. No, I'd hate to be an accountant. I actually, when I was

in my mid 20s or early 20s and I was working at Commonwealth Bank. was a currency trader there. I thought, oh, I'll go and do an accounting course just to help, you know, with my career. I think I got about five sessions in and I swiped. No way. This is so boring. I couldn't do it. my gosh. You know what? We were probably working at the Commonwealth Bank at the same time. Oh, really? Do you remember your number? God, no. To you.

You must have been there a while longer than me. Yeah, my first like fresh out of school, so like 18, 19 was in banking and I worked at Cairns and then I took a transfer out to Alice Springs and worked in the Commonwealth Bank out at Alice Springs and it was like such a cool life because you got like your daily bonus and then $15 a week rent for the bank apartments. Like it was a fun time, Bojangles pub out there.

jeez. I never got, I was trying to, when I was in the dealing room, I was close to getting a gig in New York and I was fewing that I didn't get it. One of my mates got it and we reckon it was just because I had a wife. At the time I had a, I only had one child at the time, but I was married and so he was single. So he got the transfer. was devastated. and that was with the bank? Yeah. Yeah. I was in the dealing room then. So I was a currency trader at that stage. My transfer was

Not as good then was it? Otherwise with the bank I got to go nowhere. Oh wow. Well I actually ended up transferring 37,000 of somebody else's banking into my own account at Commonwealth. By mistake, yeah. Oh by mistake. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, but the thing was I like woke up and checked my bank account and I had like 37,000 extra in there.

Jo (14:57.052)

I went to work and I was so excited that I must have had a relative that I didn't know about that had died. I was like, I've just got this payout. It's amazing. As we're standing outside the bank waiting to get to go in and stuff, we're all just so happy for me that I had come across this money and everybody was just keen to search where it had come from. So yeah, we went in there and then found that it was me.

Tell her, Bay not balanced at the end of the day, the day before. No, well, was the right amount. like the company whose banking, I was putting it in and it was only the last four or five digits of their account number. That was like their whole start of the account number was the same as mine. And then it was just the last four or five digits that were different. So I was just kind of like, you know.

gone and then put it in my own. But yeah, then I moved to Bendigo Bank and I ended up putting 50s in the 20 canisters up at Coranda on a Friday afternoon and gave out to like fully send that Aboriginal community like wild at the pub for the weekend because everyone got extra money for the whole weekend. And still didn't get fired, but I am not in finance and I never should be.

Yeah. If your past relationships could teach you one key lesson, what would it be? Yes. Agreed. Agreed. I actually wrote notes for this one. Yeah, funny. said, listen to your gut and bail if you're not feeling it. Like, stop worrying about what somebody else is like, you know, and

It's just don't waste your time or their time if it's not right. sounds like I need some boat therapy. Was that one learnt on boat therapy? okay. Well, chat GPT is a great therapist now, just FYI. Yeah, tell it to be your therapist. It laughs at me. It's great. We have a great chat.

Jo (17:19.796)

Yeah. It says it's manifesting no dicks for my future. Anyway. Yeah, I was going to say, it's like, okay, well I don't. You need to explain that part a little bit better. Yeah, just like, okay, not like penis dicks. you mean, you mean figuratively, not literally. I went to say like assholes and then I'm like, well, that's just as bad, right? All right.

Jo, what's something you'd love to experience with someone special in the new year? This is, think I told you this last time, like this just goes to like dirty mind. So we've got to like keep it clean. Well, you don't have to keep it clean. This is an explicit podcast. This is true. This is true. But it's also a first date. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's a balance, right?

I don't know. I don't know a clean option. That's my answer. What's your dirty option? booty plugs because I'm refusing to try our butt plugs, Keegan, just too much information for you right now. But I refuse to try them by myself because I need moral support if something gets stuck up there and we need to go to A &E. I'm not doing it by myself. So, that's my like, yeah.

Maybe one of the questions in here should be, how do feel about toys in a relationship in the bedroom? There's a question for you Keegan. Are you frozen or are you just not answering? Keegan's frozen. Timing! my gosh, poor Keegan. Did I scare him off? Frozen! he's gone.

I think I scared him off. He's back. Sorry, didn't hear the exit. It was the slow internet. telling you, Telstra and BN's terrible. Did you not hear any of it? What part did you get into? I think I heard that Annie wouldn't help. I think it wasn't Annie. Wouldn't help get the bar plug out. That's what I think I heard. yeah, because Joseph, you need moral support. Moral support, there you go.

Jo (19:44.052)

Oh, you wouldn't lose I wouldn't use it by myself. So I need like, you know, the next person I'm with, I would hope that they are willing to do that in case we end up at A &E because I'm not going by myself. yeah, that's... Just imagine going into an emergency and going, um, I've got this problem. Like you say, you're on Instagram or something like that. Exactly. And it happens and we get it in DMs.

All the time. But for the listeners, just so you know, the Peaches fled base is not going to get stuck inside you. Just to reiterate, other branded plugs, yes, not our Peaches. It must be like a deep affair, know, because I've read it so much. But anyway, so I just like, I'm not sticking to anything up the anus by myself. So in the next year.

That's one thing. So yeah, anyway, I went on Keegan to ask how you feel about toys in the bedroom. I have no troubles with it. think it's a tool, isn't it? You know, it's probably not every time. I think every now and then. If you're up for a longer play date, then yeah. Nice.

And what about you Keegan, what's something you'd love to experience with someone special in the new year? a good question. Probably changing my focus a little bit. You know, it has been just sailing and work. I would like to, you know, I am going to Europe. I'd like to spend some more time in Europe going around and traveling. And I like learning about somebody new and what their life is and

you know, what it can add to a relationship, you know, I'm open to different experiences, bedroom or not. Nice. How about A &E visits? Amazing. And any other questions from either of you before we wrap up? I'm good. I was going to ask if you would ever buy a boat in Greece, but apparently that's too boring. So, so cool. Didn't say never. never say never on anything.

Jo (22:06.738)

You know, I'm, yeah, I that one too. I've actually got a friend that's going around. No, he did go around like Croatia and Greece and in a cat. And now he's sailing it on the way back to Australia. And he sort of just goes into a port, leaves it there for a month or two, comes back to us, makes some money, then goes back. And he's been doing that for about five years. He loves it. Yeah. Nice. Is he single? No, I'm kidding. I'm think he's lifetime single, think. Yeah. Hey, I feel like that's me too.

Cool. Maybe I gotta just some stage do it by myself. See, I told you I'm bad at dating Viv. I'm talking about being single on a date and I'm like, okay, I guess. Do you go into a face to face date petrified or are you super casual with it now? No, I just don't. I just don't. I get drunk or Viv has come along to one of my... No, and this is...

So I just don't date. I don't date. that's a shame. I always look at it as an experience to go and, you know, not all the time will I do it at dinner first time. But sometimes I'm like, shit, I've got nothing on tomorrow night. Let's see who I can go to dinner with and just get to meet somebody. And if there's nothing there, you just go have a good time. But, you know, what are you wasting two hours of your life? You get to meet somebody new and have a nice dinner. That's I see it.

Yeah, that's true. I feel like I would need a good dose of anti-anxiety medication and a shot and then I might do it. But that's a great attitude Keegan, love that from you. Yeah no, I don't need a drugs. Next time I'm over visiting Viv I might help you out for a dinner Keegan. Okay. And anything else from you Keegan, any final words? No, I was...

This is a little bit out there for me. I'm usually pretty quiet on my relationship front. So I'll keep it to myself. So yeah, I don't know how many people are going to hear this and my friends are going to score me or like it or not. I love it. It'll be boat chat. It'll make great boat chat. Yeah, great boat chat. I always like boat chat. Well, thanks so much for coming on today, Keegan. You've been such a good sport. It's been a pleasure.

Jo (24:32.729)

And, hopefully, well, I'm hoping you and Joe get to have dinner or another date sometime soon. When she comes to Yeah, exactly. All right. Thank you. Nice. Thank you, Keegan. Thanks Keegan. Yeah. Bye. All right, Joe. Debrief time. How was that? Straight into a debrief. lovely guy, right? What a good sport and a good friend. Good friend. He literally came on to get his friend some sex toys.

Yeah. If he makes it through to the second date, which is what we all want to know, would you go on another date with him? I mean, I wouldn't date him. I would definitely be like, hey, let's grab dinner if I'm ever over in Sydney visiting you. Sounds like a good friend, great friend actually, doing that for his friend. But no, I wouldn't date him.

Do I need to elaborate on that? Yeah, elaborate what's going on? I least you don't need to know. don't know if you need to, the question's probably, would you go on a second date with him rather than would you like be in a relationship with him? Cause you can't really tell from the first encounter. Well, I kind of can. Okay. Tell me more. Okay. So I'd only go on a second date with somebody that I did think I could see myself.

with them in the future. you know, I can see a lot, you know what I mean? Like, otherwise, I feel like I'd just get stuck in something if I keep level with him. If we're honest, I would probably bring toys into the bedroom more than every now and then. And yeah, yeah, but but seems like a really nice guy. Hey.

He was a really nice guy. Great chat. Easy to talk to and I don't talk to people. What was his dating attitude? yes. that's you. See you guys should be going to dinner. Grenda. Nice. Super nice guy. Great chat. I really liked his dating attitude too. I think that will be very successful for him. Just having fun with it. The fact that he would like, yeah fun to just meet people. I think that's...

Jo (26:58.16)

So positive.

I'm not going to dinner with Keegan who is the same age as his kid. yeah, it's not the age, but yeah, I'm just not his person. And I don't see any point in trying to make myself be his person by going on a second date.

You know what I mean? And fishing for a reason why to keep dating him. Like, I'm sorry, you're a great, like actually a great guy. If I lived in Sydney, I'd be like, Keegan, you and I are going sailing. know? Nice. Yeah, but then I see things that I'm like, oh yeah. I like that about them. I'll change that about. I think sometimes the second date can be the

like an opportunity to see more of them. You know what I mean? Like if you went sailing together, you'd get to see him in his element or just second dates in general. Joe's not allowed on second dates unless there's some hope. Yeah. You put that in better words than I can. No, that's fine.

And you should also, yeah, you definitely shouldn't be changing anything about yourself to mould to someone else. I'm wondering, because the deal was like nominate somebody for a date and if they get a second date, then... Nice. All right. Well, better luck next time then. We'll see who's next on the list. Hopefully we are waiting to hear back from a couple of other candidates.

Jo (28:46.725)
