You're listening to the Girls Get Off podcast, an R18 podcast in all things female pleasure. Think girl talk, but real girl talk, where we chat all things masty, self loving, sex, orgasms and more. Nothing is off limits, which means you get all the secrets even our guests BFFs don't know. We're on a mission to make talking about getting off as fun as actually doing it. Ready to join the Mastination? Let's get into it. Hello and welcome to the Girls Get Off podcast. If you're new here, we're Viv and Jo, founders of sexual wellness brand Girls Get Off.
This season, the pod has had a bit of a glow up and we're excited to share with you our weekly segment, The Weekly Quickie. This is where we keep you updated on what's happening in the GGO world, what's new in electric toothbrushes, and what's going on in our lives. We'll release an episode every Wednesday, so make sure you follow the podcast and do us a favor by sharing it with your friends. Now we've got a few updates this week, but just a heads up as well that our Sex Files episode, the first one ever is gonna be out.
Sometimes soon don't quote me on their release date. However, we recorded that this week and I am fizzed to share that with you. We had Rebecca Kyle on first. She was the perfect practice guest for us as well. We had a little bit of stopping and starting, but Sex Files is the segment of this podcast, a separate episode to the quickie where we're gonna ask people who aren't necessarily in the sex industry what their sex life is about. We're gonna ask the same 10 questions each time and you'll be able to get the behind the.
clothes, doors, look into people's sex lives. Totally. And do you know what I realised after recording that podcast actually was that I have never been so engaged in a podcast we've done as well. think there's something so in the fact that it's just everyday people we're talking to about their sex lives rather than the sexologists and stuff, which will have great information as well, obviously, but just like, just such a good way to normalise sex lives.
Jo (01:59.31)
Because before I feel when we had different guests on that was really valuable but it gets to a stage of there's only so many different topics you can, I mean there's always so many ways you can do it but I think it almost got to the stage where because we're so desensitised to it you want to get the like the you know most different, unusual kind of you know person with the most different situation or what they were teaching about or their experiences so.
I think by talking to everyday people, but asking the same questions, we'll get some insight into how different or similar those sex lives really are. Yeah, if only we had this plan when we had Harry Jowsey on, that would have been a great one. I've got Lily reaching out to him already. I think he's going to be an easy one to get on. He does to come back on our podcast last year, I think. Yeah. OK, perfect. We've got an in there. That'd be a great one. Yeah, I'm feeling positive about that one. OK, and the last week.
has been an adventure. Yes, we were meant to record this podcast yesterday, actually, and I was completely blanking. I'm like, what do we talk about? What do we talk about? And then I did the biggest fuck up of our lives last night. Not really the biggest, but I did a big fuck up last night. And then great story comes out of my eight year old this morning. So we're all go. It's meant to be. It's meant to be. We needed we needed the content from yesterday to make this podcast even better. So anyway, last night,
Back to last night, so as you would have all seen on our stories over the past week or so, I've been putting together the Rogue Mystery Boxes, the trade show mystery bags that were products, like nothing too extreme. was all things that we would be willing to try ourselves and stuff from the expo that you guys love the content of so much. And so we ordered samples of like a heap of supplies over there.
got them sent to my house and I've been putting the bags together to do these mystery boxes. I never do stories like Viv's like the social media gal around here. But this week I was just so proud of myself. I'm like, you know, doing stories of the mystery boxes, like so organised, like I'm just like really owned this job, you know? And I was so stoked, so stoked to get them launched last night. We also had no choice.
Jo (04:15.63)
I'm not there. And we didn't have content of the specific stuff as well, because we'd had to order it in. Yeah, but you know, I was just thinking that, yeah, I can do this all by myself. Anyway, gets to, like, I even did a story two hours before to say, you know, set your alarms. Guess who didn't set their alarm? Me, to turn it live. 45 minutes after the early exit.
access, early access? Is that how say access? Early access email. Early access email came out. Yeah, 45 minutes after that, I get a call from Viv and I'm having a big mum chat with my son and I was like, that's weird that Viv's calling, like still didn't ring a bell then. And yeah, she's like, did you turn those mystery boxes live?
Like, I swear, I feel like I ticked nearly all the boxes other than the main one. And I was sitting, I, The Edge was doing their, I don't know, they're doing some interview thing at the moment. So I was sitting on Zoom in the waiting room ready to go onto this radio interview. And I don't know why, I think I must've gone to check sales like I normally do and gone, something's wrong here, you know, or,
the fact that Joe hadn't messaged when we'd had a launch, because I'd forgotten as well. Like I was in this, you know, making sure I got the times right for this thing. And I think what had I been doing before? There'd been something I'd been doing before. And then I was doing the radio interview. And so I'd forgotten as well. And it was unusual that Joe hadn't sent me any messages. And it was 45 minutes ago that they would have launched. So I was then checking sales going, no, something's wrong, went online.
was like, no. And I guess also for context, we got people to sign up for early access, which means the people who are the most keen, even though there are only say 300 people that had opened their emails by the time Jo and I spoke, those people are like the most keen as well. So then we're like, no, what are we gonna do now? Now we feel bad that some of them have probably missed out. We're like, we don't wanna like, you kind of wanna give those people a heads up if you can, but.
Jo (06:36.066)
There's email deliverability rules that we've got to worry about. it was, I mean, we got there in the end. We didn't even have that many of them, but I'm anticipating when I go through DMs today, there might be a few disappointed people. But I do think if people were really keen, they also would have been in our broadcast channel. So I feel like they would have got the message anyway. Yeah, yeah. Because even the main email that went out to the whole list, it wasn't, it wasn't even available then. So yeah. And people who were really keen.
again DM and I was making sure that any DMs that had come through I was like, just keep trying, she's putting it up now. So. And I think I looked back at the photo I posted on stories last night and I'm like, you can see how gutted I am in my face. I was like, These things happen. Yeah. And. Absolutely. We've never had a launch go to plan. The reason why it wasn't on track is because I feel like this week I was playing catch up big time. So I had been at a retreat earlier this week.
left on Sunday, came back on Tuesday evening. Genius move from me. I ended up at the airport for about 10 hours on Tuesday. That's another story. But what I did was went away to Hobart in Tasmania with 55 other founders and it was actually free of charge. So the way that this works is sponsors pay for the retreat and then they invite founders. Some of the sponsors talk, so that's what they get out of it. They're not allowed to sell.
And I loved it, it was incredible. So it was a sort of wellness-y retreat. things like these, try and, when it's only like a day and a half, right, I always try and just not look at my phone. get that many messages coming through. It's just better if I don't even, if I don't see anything, and then I'll just, you know, once I'm sitting at the airport, I'll come back to it I can just smash it all out. But it was awesome. First of all, luckily Emma from Get Good Face messaged me saying, I just got these
multiple notifications coming down the top of my screen, Hobart cold, bring warm clothes like Queenstown. And I was like, my gosh. I was on zoom to my parents at the time thinking in Sydney, 30 degrees with a denim skirt and a singlet on thinking I would have showed up in a denim skirt. And luckily I packed correctly for starters, cause that would have been right off the bat something that I would do. Secondly, the best part about these retreats is
Jo (08:57.13)
I, you do have speakers and that's always good for education, but actually you get just as many learnings from talking to people who are just floating around. So beneficial and like, I am just grateful every time I hear that you've done this and not me. Because like, it's just so up your alley and the way that you can sponge that information and then relay it to me. So like, I've got these docs that I read.
through when you get back and I'm like, yep, know what you've spoken about. Great, makes sense, good tips. I'm like, I go to a thing for an hour and by the time I get back to my computer or something to let you know what it's about, I usually call because like, I can't like put it into words, properly type it, but I forget, I forget everything. So great job.
Awesome relay of knowledge. Thank you for going to those things. Yeah, I mean, but I think also it's such a nice place, but then like that is my objective as well, is to just talk to as many people as possible. I stay up late, like talking to anyone, know, having drinks or whatever, or doing the game or going to the talk. There was one talk I really liked. Everyone was really good, but there was one about leadership, which again, I had just no expectations of anything about the retreat, but.
I was really blown away by one, it was actually one of the sponsors and they've got a podcast which I started listening to called No Bullshit Leadership. And this guy used to be a CEO of huge billion dollar companies and now he's teaching people all about leadership and communication. the, I think because we have, you we openly speak about the fact that we've never really worked in corporate. We've never had.
You know, big management structures, like that's also new to us. So when I hear people talking about how they empower their team to, you know, help them understand exactly what they need to do in their job, what success looks like, how to encourage them and empower them, like that to me really is what unlocks a business to get bigger because there's only so much you can do. Like there has to be a stage where
Jo (11:19.852)
regardless of people, if people are external contractors or if they're your employees, like you have to be able to help people feel like they're doing a good job and steer them in the right direction and make sure you're all on track. Should we end this with a funny story from my eight year old this morning? Please. So yeah, so this morning I'm making my eight year old school lunch and he comes up to me and he says, if I can find something in 10 seconds, can I have it? And I was like,
Like he's real clever. He'll go about things like that instead of just like straight out asking. And I said, well, what have you found that you want? Because you've obviously found something to say that. And I follow him. He just takes off running and I follow him into the lounge room and I see this kid jumping on the couch holding a bright green booty plug. I feel like
I feel bad saying that without the context beforehand on how it got behind the couch. where did he get it from? Yeah. so when I was doing up the mystery bags the other day and one, this bright green birdie plug fell on the floor. And within two seconds, my dog had like swooped on it, taken it, ran away, loved it. The other dog took it off him. I didn't see it after that night. Like I saw it with them for a few hours and
then I thought one of my dogs had buried it because he does that. And so I hadn't seen it in like a week. And then I look over and this eight year old is jumping on the couch holding this bright green booty plug, flicking it around. no way I'm going to show him on our socials or anything. I would love to put the clip I sent Viv this morning in this, but you're just gonna need to imagine it. What did you say? He was so excited. He was just like, can I have it? Can I have it?
like the most excited thing ever. And I was just like, no, you cannot have that. That was a dog toy. Thank you. Put it away. And yeah, I think he's pretty, he didn't argue with it. And I was like, I think he's pretty, you know, well, the other week it was the handcuffs, right? And I'm like, no, we're not, we're not playing with these. So
Jo (13:42.99)
So he's very used to there being like stuff that is not for kids. I was gonna say, do the dogs even have any soft silicon dog toys or do they just have tennis balls and now he knows anything silicon is not for kids? Why do dogs love sex toys so much? They just love them. It must feel good in the mouth or something, but they just can't get enough of a good silicon toy.
It's so funny. And when they had like the booty plug in their mouth and it's like the base is on the head, it literally looks like a dummy in their mouth. It's so funny. Yeah. Yeah. Look, they just love them. They just love them. I've never, I think that's the biggest capital ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I've done in the Slate channel this morning after seeing your kid holding that. So.
Hey. Flinging it around just the happiest face in the world like he had found like treasure. That'd be good for his 21st. Yep. Yep. It's going in the Superplot channel. Save that one. All right. I think time to wrap it up for today. If you have enjoyed this podcast, make sure you like and comment and you can find us at
Girls Get Off on Instagram and TikTok and our Facebook group is Girls Get Off Uncensored. Next week for our weekly quickie, we are doing DMs and Viv, you can explain a bit more about that because I forget. So for the last episode of each month, we'll be doing some kind of...
listener story and this month we're doing your funny or petty breakup revenge story so we'll be releasing this one next week for the release the week following and we want to hear all about your funny petty breakup revenge stories if we share your story you'll get a $50 store credit at Girls Get Off you can either DM them to us or what's easier is probably email them to jellylegs at girlsgetoff.com and we can't wait to hear all stories by the way will be anonymous so there's like
Jo (15:52.494)
People often message saying, please keep it anonymous. like we have in four and a half years, have never, okay, there was one time I accidentally for two seconds put a story up with someone's username. And I remember that moment, but in the thousands of stories that we've put up and shared, there is no way that you're, yeah. I'll give you free toys if that happens. It's just never gonna happen. And they're coming through already, which is so I haven't.
gone through and read them yet, but I keep seeing more pop up in the podcast channel. So this is great. Yay. Awesome. All right. See you next week. Bye.
