Welcome back to the Girls Get Off Quickie, our weekly episode on the Girls Get Off podcast. It's going to be short, sharp, little updates on our business and our life. If you like the podcast, we release it every Wednesday and make sure you share it with your friends, your family, your mum, your grandma, your sister, your brother, and leave us a review. And I'm back this week. She's this week. We had a fill in last week. Thank you, Emma. Jo got called up for some, well, we're calling it the free facelift, aren't we? Really?
for medical reasons, we're taking it as a win. Yeah, absolutely. And I mean, it is going to be a win. I do have this like, I've never learned what I'm like 40 something and you know, I have something like this booked in, no stress, no nothing, just like, yep, I'll need two days off work, you know, I'll be back, we'll be fine. Never think it's good deal. I knew that this was, you know, when Jackie was booking things, was like, least Joe had said,
I'm gonna like have the surgery on the Monday. And I was saying to Jackie, like, if we can, nothing booked next week at a max, at a push next Thursday or Friday. But sure enough, you look like you'd been stung by a bee. Or a hundred, yeah. A hundred bees, yeah. Opped straight to the face. Straight to the face, yeah. And then ended up with a nice infection. And I was feeling like, shit, what the following?
Monday, Tuesday, came good Wednesday the following week. And I'm like, my gosh. my gosh. whole point of the surgery was this. You don't get migraines anymore. And I'm surprised it didn't give you a migraine or that pressure on your head. No, three days in a row there. Yeah. perfect. Yeah. Yeah. So, but we're over that stage now, although, you did come onto the call with a weep.
We beg around your neck this morning though. I did, but the tablets kicked in now. So that's great. That was another migraine this morning, but yesterday, I see I overdid it yesterday again. And then I like just had all this pressure in my head this morning and again migraine. So we'll get there, we'll get there. But I know I just wish that you could get shit done and then go back to normal in two days. I don't think that's how surgery works. I don't think that's, I don't think that's a normal thing.
Jo (02:37.454)
Speaking of you being off and us having a film guest. So if you didn't listen to the last quickie, we had Emma on, she's from Get Good Face, a good friend of mine who I'm actually staying with. And we shared your stories about how you met in the wild. that was originally the topic was to get inspiration for Joe and I, but Emma and I have been using that as literal inspiration this week. It has been hilarious. instead of, and I think in a world where dating apps are not designed to make you feel good as the company,
If you're Tinder, you're Hinge, want people, okay, of course, yeah, you're living your brand values, you want people to fall into relationships. But the reality of how we have been conditioned to use those apps means that I think they don't leave you feeling very good. And I also think the companies are invested to make you stay on the apps and make you pay for them, so on and so forth. Fair enough, whatever. But we decided this week, and I said to Emma, right, she would really, really, really like to.
find a long-term partner, which is great. And look, I'm open to it, but I'm all down for the ride. And we said this week, it's lead generation week. And the other thing is that a lot of, you think about, I think it's like starting a business. You have to think about who's my target customer, where are they hanging out? And so therefore, where do I need to market to? What situations do I need to be in to get in front of them? So we kicked things off last Friday. There was a,
Keep the Change live event. So if you don't already listen to the Keep the Change podcast, I'd highly recommend. But I actually called like three of my girlfriends. That's the first Emma, she bought a friend too. And I called another couple of friends and I didn't even tell them what the event was about. The podcast itself is about financial literacy. And I literally said, Morgan Penn was one of the girls that came and said, Morgan, there's an event on Friday. It's gonna be, it's gonna be teaming with men. I said, it's only $26, come along. Same with another friend I hadn't seen in ages. I said, come to the event, it'll be great.
We're at the event, we're about an hour in, David Neethy is on stage talking about goal setting, he's got a white board, he's like, you know, here's the system, blah, blah. And I look across and the girls have had, we've had so many glasses of bubbles. We had pre-drink bubbles, we drinking bubbles in the crowd. there is- You've gone for lead generation and people are there to set their fucking goals. And I'm like, I didn't tell these girls what this event was about at all. I don't think only Emma had listened to a podcast.
Jo (05:01.536)
episode or two and here they are at the New Zealand version of like Tony Robbins event and getting yelled at for how they set goals and like achieving 2026 and I'm like, my goodness, this is so funny. But I will say sure enough, like beautiful men there, great guys, good ratio, AKA more guys than girls. And it was heaps of fun. The thing was though, because none of them had never listened to the podcast.
There's a couple of things about, well, first of all, as we were walking in the door, there's the camera guy saying, what do you guys love most about Keep The Change? Or what advice would you give to someone who wants to be better with money? And Morgan comes out with, because we've been pre-gaming already, she said, don't date someone in debt. I'm like, because we've just been talking about how, wow, if you get a partner, know, like you do have to make...
you know, never can, you might not consider it, but if you've got hundreds of thousands of dollars of student loans or whatever, then that becomes half your problem as well. So Morgan says that straight off the bat. And as she's saying that people, like I can see one guy who's walking in turnaround and be like, what? And then, and then because the podcast is all about, you know, taking action, thinking about what you can do and all the actions that you can make for starters. That's why she's getting the side, side eye.
And then at the very end, the other thing about the podcast is that, and why I like it so much is it's not political at all. So Luke and Mike, who's off and on, they will never talk about who they're voting for because at the end of the day, it's not important. Like the government's not going to change your life. You can. I should, know, Ja, who's next to me at the end, any questions from the crowd? She's like, who are you voting for? was like.
Jo (06:56.142)
Like I have bought the most rogue group of girls. And the other thing was that I'd said to Luke the day before, hey, do you want any prizes to throw out into the crowd? And he said, yeah, sure thing. I said, perfect. I'll send some gender neutral like butt plugs and lulus. And at the very start, the goal setting guy, there are a number of different speakers goes, stand up if you're under 18, stand up if you're under 17, trying to find the youngest person in the room. And I'm sitting there going.
great, I can't wait till these five 16 year olds get to own but blocks at them at the end and he's giving them like a cool book that he's written. And then at the very end again, keep in mind we've had a lot of bubbles. We've just, of us, someone would go to the toilet, that, Emma came back with three like glasses which must have had three bottles of bubbles poured into them like passing them down our line.
And at the end, Luke's like birthing these, he's saying electric toothbrushes into the crowd. And I've got this video of Emma standing up, waving her arms in the 750 person auditorium saying.
Jo (08:05.198)
I'm staying with you, I can give you butt plugs. Don't, and she catches them, she's ripping them out the back of her leg. Emma, give them to someone else. So yeah, that was a rogue ride. Anyway, that's a long story, but since then we've also gone to the, we went to the driving range the other day. So there's a golf simulator and Emma's been doing golf lessons.
And we went to the golf simulator and within a week, book for an hour. We turn up, there's actually no one there. There's two other people. then about four minutes in for the record, there's a reason I stick to water sports and things where I can't like hurt myself or others. And about four minutes in, I go to smack this golf ball. I've had about 25 seconds of lining it up and she's giving me tips, put your head down, put your head down. And I smack it.
I miss and all of a sudden all I see is this thing flying towards me from my left and it is the head of the golf club and I have whacked it off the stick and Emma happened to be filming me because also we're getting content so she can post this to her stories and like, you know, look so busy. And I have broken the golf club with informants of being there. Someone messaged me after I posted it to stories saying that normally happens when you hit the golf ball with the
shaft of the golf club instead of the actual head of the golf club. He's like, but you didn't even hit the ball. So I must've just like whacked it. And I'm looking at the ball the whole time. She's saying head down, head down. And I'm looking at the ball and all I do is just make contact, must've been with the ground and the whole head of it has flung off. It was so funny. It's so quiet in there. Emma's just saying, you can hear her gasping saying, are you joking? Are you joking?
Oh my goodness. You were just like bent over, couldn't breathe. was looked so Couldn't breathe. Putting my Botox to the absolute test. Like you can just see by all my muscles trying to move. And so that was another lead generation strategy we'd done. We'd also, it was off to the Chasing the Fox Golf event today, which will be exciting, which would have been amazing. And we've also chatted.
Jo (10:26.796)
And I said to her, this is Christmas party season. Last time I came to Auckland, I got in an Uber at midday and the driver said, you're my first job. Well, they have started at 7.30. Now it's busy again. People are out and about. Imagine the guys who maybe they've got their own business. They've been busy all winter. Like they're not going out. They might not be partying all the time, but Christmas time, Christmas parties, they are out and about. So we're messaging Emma's friend who we know is an EA and saying,
Right, Millie, where are you organizing Christmas parties? Where are your other assistant friends like organizing? Where are they gonna go? I'm like, even if you were a tradie, maybe like they still wanna be, know, maybe they like a pub, but they still wanna be around girls. So at some point after they've had lunch, maybe you wanna go to the Viaduct late afternoon and mingle around that path. And maybe they'd be at like Winyard Pavilion or Winyard Quarter, which is like down the other end of the Viaduct. So.
We've been very strategic about it all. Emma's booked in lunches at Soul Bar. I think if anyone is single over the December period, they need to go outside and start thinking strategically around where your future boyfriend is hanging out. It makes sense. It's It's genius. If you had to pick a place or the top two or three places where you think a future...
ideal guy would be hanging out for you Joe, where would it be? You can't say inside on this couch because this is too hard. I'd be at that golf event with Emma today. I'm like, you need to get there Bev. Yeah, well I've got a hen's party to attend so I won't be there unfortunately but this is yeah and actually you know where she's also going is um we've really done a lot she's also booked in with other friends who live in Cambridge to go to
some show jumping event that whatever is on. And it's like, again, you just, it's different, different little pockets. You could have think outside the box. Are you not into show jumping? No, I'm just thinking of everyone with these little jockeys. think farm is there. think it's like, like small town, small town, there's not a lot going on. So there's like, know, there's an event, everyone will go to it.
Jo (12:49.824)
Okay, I was just thinking about like a pony club or something.
There is the horses and show jumping is like the animal version of people owning fast cars. Yeah, it's a real wank sport. I've learned a lot since knowing G.C. Yeah. Horse races, I can understand. You know, you've got all the gamblers there. Great potential in there. Maybe not.
It's obviously the responsibly gambling gamblers, that's fine. Think about Boys Get Paid, know, like great atmosphere in there, probably like 95 % male, like, yeah, that's great. But... Where else would you be looking? Probably not the show jumping one. I can't imagine, can't imagine, you know, like I can't imagine all the tradies and stuff going to like watch. What about field days? Maybe you need to take a week off and go to field days.
That's Southam Vibrators at Field Days. That would give you opportunity to advise. I have, I've never been to Field Days. Neither have I, but it seems pretty rural, doesn't it? Yeah, but you know, I don't know. I don't know, but definitely see, I'm just, I like what you said before with work parties and stuff like that. You know, like it is just a good time.
for lots of people to be out and you know, like maybe not the type that are just out every weekend that we don't want to really date anyway. There's Scott Galloway who I love has just released a book about masculinity and I've heard him talk around a few different stats and topics before but one of the things that he talks about
Jo (14:44.918)
is that the amount of time you spend at home is inversely correlated with your success both professionally and romantically. So in plain terms, the more you stay inside, the less likely you are to build relationships, career opportunities or develop social skills that tend to lead to success and sex. He's quoted saying, you should never be at home, home is for seven hours of sleep and that's it. The amount of time you spend at home is inversely correlated to your success professionally and romantically. that's why Emma is...
We're calling it boot camp this week, lead generation. Let me tell you, we're both exhausted. She's like, I've got to go out so much now, but I know, but it's an investment, you know? That's so funny. Okay. Yep. I am in that percentage of failing. But I think the point is you can be strategic about it. So it's not like you have to go to the bar every single weekend and figure out. You can be strategic and say, I've got this event, I've got that Christmas parties.
Christmas parties, I'm going to go to the certain bars, I'm going to go to the, you know, where I know other people are going to be or at the right times. Like I said, you're not going to meet anyone at lunch, you're all sitting at your table, but after lunch, when people go to the bar, well, that's when you'll find people who want to carry on and righty rast. And, you know, work's wrapping up for the year for tradies next Friday. So what are the chances that a hundred percent of tradies at lunchtime next Friday are all going to be hitting the town? Yeah. You know?
Exactly. So, next Friday. We're smarter not harder. What are you doing next Friday, babe? I'm gonna need to like... I've got the wedding next Friday. shit. I'm back to back. I'm back to back, Social obligations. need, okay, I need to get my shit together and organise something for next Friday. No, hopefully my forehead will be looking a bit better by then. Yeah, nothing a little bit of a makeup won't fix.
And before we go, one of the things that has been super exciting this week that we announced is something that has been over a year and a half in the making. We've teased it on other podcasts is our Queenie V. So this was designed by Constance Hall. I just love the packaging. The packaging is insane. So we have worked with Con on the research phase, the testing everything. You have no idea how many different toys
Jo (17:02.636)
We tested, Conn tested, Renee tested, who was also involved in the process. And Conn really wanted something that could slip in between herself and her partner. And you didn't have to reach like you would with a poly. So it's got a nice long handle. The shape of it fits perfectly on the Volvo. So you can get all that power onto your Clit. And one of the things that we talked about was, you know, doing this toy has been a reminder of why
our toys are the price they are as well because one of the things about Queenie V is that the motor is in the end of the toy. So a lot of other toys that might have a long handle will have just, it's easier for them to just pop the handle in the bottom and just have like some flappy bit at the top. all that relies in the bottom you mean? Yeah, pop the motor in the bottom. And all it relies on is those vibrations traveling up the shaft and then vibrating on wherever you want it. But it actually doesn't lead to very good pleasure. You've also got medical grade silicon.
One of the things Kon said was, you my audience is going to ask, why would I not just go and buy a random toy off Amazon or off Timmu? And I said, well, would you buy, would you trust Amazon or Timmu to buy a new GHD hair straightener? No, you would expect it to, it'd show up, it'd be all clunky, it'd probably feel cheap. Would it work that well? Would it burn your hair off? And also,
It's an electrical product. Like it's got lithium batteries in there. We have to go through so much process to get these into the country and make sure they're all certified. If you buy a random toy from somewhere, A, it's not going to be medical grade silicon. So it's not tested on bodies. It's not going to be the right, like we've been to the trade shows. pick them up and you're like, that just feels terrible. Like it's, it's just yard. And then thirdly, why on earth would you put something in the most intimate part of your body that could potentially,
like, kak out. Like someone posted in the Facebook group a while ago saying their charger had gone a bit funny, like on a different toy, their charger, they'd used the wrong charger and it had like, that's like an electrical thing where it had gone rogue. But at least you know, and you can be confident that we have to jump through that many hoops, that the chargers, the toys, the motors themselves are all legit. Yeah, I actually have a friend that was
Jo (19:22.022)
starting or is starting a USB product like for horses and not a vibrator. Just escalated. But because it's a USB thing and I said to have you gone through all the safety, all the like safety things because you can't just sell it off the shelf. I said, I'll show you, you know, the different USB certifications and stuff you need. And I pulled up our folder of
certifications and there is like literally 30 or something like the process is just yeah overwhelming so. Every batch is tested for every function that the toy has so it's not like you know it gets made and then that's it see you later like every batch has to be tested on that and they won't let them into the country if we can't prove that that's all been done. Yeah yeah absolutely and
Also, we only work with the best factories and people that have been following on our story for ages know that we have such a good relationship with our suppliers and they're like family. love them. Viv has gone traveling with one recently. And you know, like everybody.
working at the factory, so happy, so looked after, you know, like all of these things just mean so much, but all contribute to what you're paying for, right? at the end of the day. Yeah, 100%. And you just, yeah, it kind of was just a reminder, Jo and I, you know, we were talking about how you, we actually don't talk about it ever. We just, we work so hard in the background to make sure that everything is so high quality. And we're, we're doing like, we're always like,
the absolute best. There's been that many times in the chats with suppliers, these ones are different. That's why we've had to change so many other suppliers where we say, do not cut any corners, know, like high quality. If the price is going to change, tell us, but we don't want you to change something in the product for the sake of giving us the same price. Like that's just not really with our values and we need to make sure that everything is good. So I guess that was, I mean,
Jo (21:37.23)
That's a long roundabout way of saying that Queenie B is great. And she's already. And all the same boxes that all our toys. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we'll keep you posted with how that goes. But otherwise I think we can leave that one there. Amazing. All right. If you've enjoyed the podcast, make sure you leave a comment and follow along. And you can find us on Instagram at girlsgetoff. TikTok not anymore. We've just both lost both accounts.
And Facebook group is Facebook Uncensored. See you next week.
